Cafe on Monash has become a favourite haunt of mine as a Saturday morning pick-me-up. Modestly named after the road it sits on, Cafe on Monash is a local business that serves as a welcome change from a fancy brunch when all you want is a no-thrills breakfast.
As you walk in you'll usually pass some people chatting leisurely outside with dog on leash; a handful people queuing for a coffee or food to-go; maybe one or two sitting alone with hot coffee and a newspaper strewn on the table. There's a blackboard featuring their specials ($5 burgers on Saturday for a while now). The cafe is also strewn with colours and flags of the owner's favourite teams. Next to the counter is a little stand with a pigeonhole of cards from local businesses. There's a little nook for condiments (extremely important) and next to it, a little game area including an old timey console and other puzzles. Soft radio music plays. Basically, it's very nice.
I've gone a fair few times and am currently in an attempt to try the board (see progress below). We've gone when we were absolutely ravenous, when we've already had a bite to eat so we weren't so hungry, and when we had no idea what we wanted. Cafe on Monash offers a good bite for any situation and so far, everything we've tried hits the spot.

A blurry photo of their menu on board (see below for a less blurry photo). There's usually a coffee/cake deal advertised at front with their delicious homemade sweets.

Monash Plates
Immaculate. Heavenly. Eggs cooked to perfection. Juicy bacon and sausage. A hash brown being a hash brown. Nice sourdough bread with throwback-to-airplane butter. Get grilled mushrooms if you feel like it and you won't be disappointed.

The Eltham ($15) (so much guac!)

| Ryde Rd Omlette with extra mushrooms ($13.50 + $2) |
Burgers
Since finding out the burgers were $5 on Saturdays (the day we go to Cafe Monash anyway), we've been hungrily trying every burger and so far have not been disappointed. Try the Two-Hander if you're after the works. Or Papa Americano if you're after a classic beef patty. If you're not that hungry/ wanna eat something light, definitely go for their delicious wraps.

| Big Brekky Burger ($10) - absolutely satisfying; a big breakfast in a convenient package. |
| Two-Hander Burger ($12) - just like the name; its got the works. Finger licking good. |
| Juicy Lucy Burger ($11) |
Papa Americano Burger ($8) - that sauce is amazing. This burger is a classic beef patty burger with crisp lettuce, melty cheese and did I mention the sauce ties it all in?
Philly Cheese Steak Sub ($10) - not quite a Philly cheesesteak but a nice homey interpretation!
Freddos Fish Wrap ($8.50) - great for when you want something lighter and healthier!
| Fully Falafel Wrap ($8.50) - absolutely amazing falafel; packed with flavour and not dry at all. Excellent! |
Coffee
It's good.
Dirty Chai
| Almond latte (top) and chai latter (bottom). The almond latte is a favourite that we always get now. |
We'll definitely be coming back (we're trying the board!) so this post will be updated.
